Hanuman Garhi is one of the most prominent and revered temples in Ayodhya, dedicated to Lord Hanuman, the devoted follower of Lord Rama. Situated in the heart of the city, this 10th-century shrine is an essential stop for pilgrims visiting the holy town. The temple is located on a hilltop and can be reached by climbing a flight of 76 steps.

Legend has it that Lord Hanuman resided in a cave at this spot to guard Ram Janmabhoomi and the city of Ayodhya. The main sanctum houses a beautiful idol of Bal Hanuman (child form) sitting on the lap of his mother Anjani. Devotees believe that a visit to Hanuman Garhi before Ram Janmabhoomi brings blessings and good fortune.

The temple complex is built in a fort-like structure with thick walls and small domed pavilions at the corners. The spiritual energy and chanting of Hanuman Chalisa inside the sanctum add to the divine atmosphere.

Hanuman Garhi can be visited throughout the year, but the pleasant months between October and March are ideal for travel. Special celebrations take place on Hanuman Jayanti, Ram Navami, and Diwali, when the temple is beautifully decorated and draws large crowds of devotees.
